Ingredients

Ingredients for Dough Recipe

  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour / Atta
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 0.5 cup Water (adjust as per requirement)

Stuffing Ingredients:

  • 0.5 cup Chana Dal (soaked in water for 2 hours)
  • 2 Green Chilli (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp Ginger (grated)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander (finely chopped)
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / Hing
  • 0.25 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
  • 0.25 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 0.5 tsp Amchur Powder

Ingredients for Fried Dal Farra Recipe:

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / Hing
  • 0.5 tsp Rai / Small Mustard Seeds
  • 0.5 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander (finely chopped)

Instructions

How to make Dal Farra Recipe:

  • Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix wheat flour, salt, and oil. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare the Stuffing: Drain the soaked Chana Dal and coarsely grind it. Mix it with green chilies, ginger, coriander, salt, asafoetida, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and amchur powder.
  • Shape the Fara: Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a small circle, place 1-2 tsp of stuffing in the center, and fold into a semi-circle. Seal the edges firmly.
  • Boil the Fara: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the prepared Fara one by one. Cook for 10-15 minutes until they float to the surface. Remove and drain.
  • Fry the Fara: Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, mustard seeds, and red chili powder. Add boiled Fara and stir-fry until golden and crispy. Garnish with fresh coriander.
