It is mostly eaten during the fasting days like Navratri or Janmashtami or any other fast / vrat / upvas when people are fasting. Ingredients
1cupPasai ke Chawal / Tinni Rice
1Potato(chopped)
1tspGreen Chili(finely chopped)
½tspCumin Seeds (Jeera)
¾tspSendha Namak or Rock Salt
2tspGhee/Oil
2.5cupWater
1tbspFresh Coriander (finely chopped)
Instructions
Firstly, grind the posai chawal a little bit.
Wash and soak the vrat rice or tinni rice for at least 30 minutes.
Further, heat 2 tsp of ghee/oil in a pressure cooker.
In addition, add cumin seeds.
Once it splutters add finely chopped green chili and saute for a few seconds.
After that, add the chopped potato and mix well.
Shallow fry this for 1-2 minutes.
Now add pasai rice or tinni rice and mix well.
In addition, add 2.5 cups of water, sendha namak and mix well.
Now, pressure cooks it for 3 whistles.
After 15 minutes, open the lid of the pressure cooker.
Add finely chopped fresh coriander to the vrat khichdi.
Mix all the ingredients well.
Finally, serve this yummy Pusai ke Chawal ki Khichdi with curd and coriander chutney.
Notes
By grinding the Pasai rice or vrat rice a little bit, it gets cooked quickly.
