Ingredients

  • 500 grams Singhara / Water Chestnut
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeera
  • 2 Green Chilies finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger grated
  • 1 tsp Sendha Namak / Rock Salt adjust as per taste
  • ½ tsp Red Chili Powder optional
  • 2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • tsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander finely chopped

Instructions

  • Wash the Singhara thoroughly and pressure cook with water for 2 whistles. Once cooled, strain, peel, and chop into bite-sized pieces.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Saute chopped green chilies and ginger, coriander powder, red chili powder (optional), and the chopped Singhara.
  • Season with rock salt and lemon juice.
  • Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the Singhara is well-coated with spices.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with Kuttu ka paratha or poori during Navratri fasting.
