Ingredients
Chinese style Fried Idli Recipe Ingredients:
- 6 pieces Sooji Idli or Rava Idli
- ½ tsp Rai or Small Mustard Seeds
- ¼ tsp Red Chili Powder
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 1 tsp Ginger Paste
- 1 tsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Tomato Sauce
- 1 tsp Vinegar
- ½ tsp Chilli Garlic Sauce
- ½ tsp Green Chilli Sauce (Optional)
- ½ cup Cabbage (Cut into fine long strips)
- ½ cup Capsicum (Cut into fine long strips)
- ½ cup Onion (Cut into fine long strips)
- ½ tsp Salt (Adjust as per taste)
- 2 tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Firstly, prepare the soft and spongy Plain Sooji Idli or Plain Rava Idli – Click here for a detailed Recipe.
- Further, cut the onion, cabbage, and capsicums into fine long strips.
- To make Chinese Fried Idli, cut each Idli from the center to divide them into 4 equal pieces.
- After that, heat the oil in a wok/Kadai.
- When the oil is hot, add rai or small mustard seeds to it. Let them splutter for a few seconds.
- Additionally, add ginger paste, and saute them for a few seconds.
- Further, add chopped onions and cook till the onions are translucent.
- Now add chopped capsicum and cabbage into it and cook them for 4-5 minutes.
- Stir the ingredients in between.
- Further, add red chili powder, black pepper powder, soy sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar, chili garlic sauce, and green chili sauce. Mix all the ingredients in the Kadai as you stir them constantly for 1-2 minutes on a high flame.
- After that, add pieces of Idlis to it and mix them properly.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring in between.
- Now switch off the gas.
- Finally, hot and delicious Chinese Veg Fried Idli is ready to be served.
- You can serve this Veg Fried Idli along with tomato sauce or Szechuan Sauce.
