Singhara Atta Paratha Recipe is a non-starchy, vegan, and gluten-free Indian Flatbread that is generally consumed during any fasting day in India. These parathas are a delicious alternative to Kuttu Atta Parathas.
This Singhara ka Atta can be used to cook various singhara atta recipes for navratri fast like singhara atta roti, dosa, and halwa. You can also make singhara atta puri and singhara atta cheela. Singhara Atta Pakoras for your navratri vrat or fast is also a good option.
You can serve these singhara aate ke parathe with navratri special aloo curry, sukhi arbi, and curd. You can also serve these parathas with kaddu ki sabji and arbi curry for navratri.
What is Singhara Atta?
Singhara also known as water caltrop or water chestnut is a fruit that grows underwater and it is available throughout the year. The singhare ka atta is rich in nutrients.
Difference between Singhara Atta and Kuttu Atta
The main difference between singhara flour and kuttu flour is that kuttu atta provides warmth, and singhara has cooling properties.
Singhara Atta and Kuttu Atta, both are healthy and rich in nutrients and both flours can be used to cook various fast or vrat dishes and are densely rich in nutrients and are great for weight loss.
These tasty and healthy singhara atta parathas are served with aloo curry for navratri or arbi curry for navratri fast. It helps you to keep full for a longer time. This singhara aate ke parathe is also a good option for those people who cannot eat gluten-free products such as wheat.

Singhara Atta Paratha Recipe | How to make singhara atta paratha | Singhara Atta Recipe for Navratri Fast
Ingredients
Singhara Atta Paratha Ingredients:
- 2 cups Singhara Atta/Flour
- 2 cups Boiled and grated Potato
- 1 tsp Sendha Namak
- 1 cup Oil
Instructions
- Firstly, peel and grate the potatoes well.
- Further, take 2 cups of singhara flour in a Parat or big bowl.
- Add 2 cups of boiled and grated potatoes and 1 tsp of sendha namak or rock salt.
- After that, combine all the ingredients and Knead them into a smooth dough.
- Keep kneading this singhara dough for about 2 minutes.
- Tip: The dough should not be sticky. Otherwise, you won’t be able to roll the parathas.
- Further, divide into equal medium-sized smooth balls from the dough, and flatten between your palm one by one with the help of dry singhara atta.
- Now, take one atta ball and sprinkle singhara atta on the surface so that the dough doesn't stick to your rolling pin or surface.
- Further, roll this singhara atta paratha to about the same size as that of a chapati. If you are unable to roll parathas directly, then make use of two plastic sheets to roll parathas.
- Now, place the singhara atta paratha on a hot Tawa.
- When one side has partly cooked, flip the paratha.
- When another side of singhara atte ke parathe is also partially cooked as well then drizzle some oil/ghee.
- Flip again and spread some oil/ghee on another side too.
- After that, flip again once or twice till both sides of the singhara atta ka paratha are cooked properly. You should see crisp brown spots on the singhara aloo paratha.
- Further, make all singhara aata parathas this way and stack them up in a roti basket or casserole.
- Finally, your delicious and hot singhara atta parathas for navratri fast are ready to be served.
- You can serve this singhara atte ke parathe with navratri special arbi curry, jeera aloo, and kaddu ki sabji.
Notes
- The color of the paratha totally depends on singhara flour’s brand actually some flour is lighter in color while some are darker.
- Please mash the potatoes well.
- The dough of paratha should not be sticky. Otherwise, you won’t be able to roll the paratha.
- You can also use kuttu atta instead of singhada atta for this paratha.
